We returned to Seattle and picked up passengers
for the South Pacific trip. On a 1300 passenger
ship, we have less than 400 people. It's like
a ghost ship. We will pick up about 200 in
San Francisco and the rest (for about 1200)
in San Diego.
We have heard from two guest lecturers and
will have presentations from them and from our
destination guide throughout the trip.
One is an anthropologist. Looks like we'll
have some really good presentations.

Victoria
September 26, 2015
Took a short tour of Victoria. We docked
at 6:30 so couldn't see as well as in day.
We did get a nice picture of the moon and
the lit up state building.

Ketchikan 2015
September 25, 2015
I am having trouble getting my font to work when
I copy and paste from MS Word. Posts may become
short or have yucky font.
Today we were in Ketchikan and walked around
town. We went to Creek Street which was once
a rowdy red light district. We didn't have camera
So no pictures.
We hate had a lot of salmon and baked alaska dishes.
Getting my omega 3 while Foster tests all the baked
alaska.

Sitka 2015
September 24, 2015
Today we were in Sitka which was the original
capital of Alaska.
We visited the Russian Orthodox and the Bishop's
House. The church burned on1966 and the new one
opened an 1976.
The Bishop's House had deteriorated badly when
the park service came in. There was a 16 year
restoration project and it is now run jointly
by the city and the park service

Junbeau 2015
We were in Juneau on Wednesday and took a tram
up a mountain for a nice scenic view.
It was very cold but we managed a short walk.
Saw a bald eagle in a tree.

Scenic Crusising
September
22, 2015
We are on our second sea day cruising
in Tracy’s Arm.
The weather is cold and cloudy but
the scenery is still
beautiful.
During the afternoon we cruised to a
glacier and had
the traditional Holland America
served on scenic
cruises-split pea soup, although it’s
more like mushy
peas but very good.
Juneau 2010
When we planned our trip to Alaska, we decided
to only take one helicopter trip because of the expense.
We decided on Mount McKinley because we
would see the glaciers up close and personal from
the ship.
After our Mount McKinley trip was cancelled
we decided to do the glacier helicopter from
Juneau.
I am often asked where is my favorite place visited.
I have a problem answering that, but I can tell about
my favorite shore excursion.
We took the "Pilots Choice", a one hour trip with two
stops on glaciers. It was a perfect day and the trip wa
much too short. It's hard to explain and pictures don't
tell the story.
The beauty from the air was spectacular and the time
on the glaciers...
When we reboarded the helicopter after our first stop
I asked "It is just me, or do you feel like you're in
outer space?"
The immediate answer "I feel like I just landed on the
moon!!!"
I highly recommend this trip, but I would not do it again.
How do you improve on "Perfect?"

Denali
We traveled by bus and one day by train through
Denali to cruise terminal. The weather was not
cooperative. Our day on the train was a dreary day.
Our plans to take a helicopter to Mt. Mckinley fell
through, although it was a beautiful day. The pilot
flew up early and said it was too windy.
Views from train

Lots of beautiful views

Not everybody has a plane in their yard,
but this is a major mode of transportation.

Kenai to Cruise Terminal
Kenai was a small lodge with cabins. Weather
had improved.
We took a hike and then a raft ride. Great fun.
